Music always makes me happy and it motivates me to get moving, be it cleaning the house or going for a run. If you’re the same way and you don’t know about Songza …you’re gonna love this one plus it’s free!

Songza comes with your own personal “concierge”. Songza’s offerings change every time you jump into the app, simply based on time and day. You just tell Songza what you’re doing or what kind of mood you’re in and you’ll instantly be served with playlists that are chosen by experts based on what you’ve specified. You can browse playlists based on moods (like Angsty, Gloomy, Introspective, Rowdy, Spacey, and Visceral), choose by decade (in the mood for 80’s music?), search by genre or you can choose your playlist based on your activity (ballroom dancing, pool party, workout – just to name a few). While Songza doesn’t seem to specify how large their music library is, they do seem to have an incredibly large collection with tracks spanning almost every genre and timeframe I could think of.

Songza is not only the most lovely music streaming app I’ve ever come across, it also works wonderfully well. I will say this, if you’re looking for custom song searches and the ability to make your own playlists, Songza isn’t for you (and you’ll be happier with a service like Spotify (and you’ll pay for that privilege). But if you’re like me and are always looking for a way to discover new music (instead of simply streaming the songs you already know), well then Songza is a perfect option. The playlists are so well put together and the iPhone app is a joy to use.
